The Frederick County Business Roundtable for education was established in December 2007 for the purpose of addressing current and future community workforce needs. After a series of meetings with community business leaders, the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce felt that workforce development is such a critical issue in Frederick County that they included in their strategic plan the establishment of the Business Roundtable for Education. Together Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, Frederick County Public Schools, Frederick Community College, Fort Detrick and the Frederick County Office of Economic Development formed a partnership to develop FCBRE.
The Frederick County Business Roundtable for Education connects classroom learning and the workplace, and promotes academic excellence. The partnership supports educational initiatives within the school system and addresses workforce needs in the business community. It is designed to provide ideas, perspective and real-world experiences that increase opportunities for students and teachers. The goal: to help prepare the next generation of business leaders in our community. Through the Roundtable, the business community will articulate a strong message that diverse educational backgrounds and various skill sets are important and convey other industry information to the student.
FCBRE is a 501c3 nonprofit organization with all funds held by the Community Foundation of Frederick County.
All Frederick students will graduate from high school with the necessary skills to become productive members of the workforce.
The Frederick County Business Roundtable for Education acts as the bridge between classroom learning and the workplace, and promotes academic excellence through a partnership that will assist the school system as it addresses employer workforce needs.
